Press Statement / Artist Note
Release Date: First Week Of February
This release is deeply personal to me.
Growing up in the Dominican Republic, I remember hearing Fausto Rey on television, especially on El Show del Mediodía, one of the most influential and widely watched programs of the 1980s and 1990s. His voice, presence, and romantic style were part of the everyday cultural soundtrack of that era, long before I ever imagined myself producing music.
Years later, during one of my travels, I came across the vinyl El Amor Es Natural. I purchased it instinctively, purely because I recognized the artist’s name and what it represented from my childhood—without knowing the tracklist or revisiting the music beforehand.
The moment the needle dropped, everything changed.
At approximately one minute and thirty seconds into the title track, my mind immediately began forming ideas. I could hear a bridge between eras, how this song, originally released in 1977, could live again in a modern context while preserving its emotional core. The melody, the phrasing, and the sentiment felt timeless.
This remix is my attempt to respectfully bring that moment forward in time.
I approached the track from a house music foundation, introducing subtle samba-inspired rhythmic elements that naturally connect Afro-Caribbean and Latin musical traditions with contemporary dance music. The goal was not to modernize the song for the sake of trend, but to create a new doorway—one that allows a new generation of listeners to discover and feel the beauty of this composition, while honoring its original spirit.
This release is a tribute:
to memory,
to cultural continuity,
and to the music that shapes us long before we understand its influence.
